IMPORTANT: Note for users of older versions

MpegXtra version 3 is not compatible
with version 1 and 2 of MpegXtra.
You must delete the old MpegXtra castmembers
and recreate them with MpegXtra 3.
There are a lot of new Lingo properties and
functions, and some older ones are not supported.
Both versions can exist at the same time
on the same machine.

1. Product Information

	The world of interactive full-motion,
full-screen video has arrived to Director and Authorware.
MpegXtra is a product that gives developers using these
products the power to easily incorporate MPEG videos into
their multimedia productions. MPEG is a multi-platform video
compression standard that provides 30 frames per
second high quality video directly from a hard disk
or CD-ROM. MpegXtra 3 can control MPEG2 and VOB (DVD)
files if your Mpeg decoder supports these formats using
the MCI interfadce.

2. System Requirements

MpegXtra Pro is compatible with Windows 95
and Windows NT 4. 16 MB of RAM and a Pentium Processor
are recommended for good performance. Your system also
needs a MCI-compliant MPEG player. MpegXtra 3 is
compliant with Microsoft's MPEG Command Set for the
Media Control Interface (Microsoft Part No. 098-37538).
It has been tested successfully with several hardware
and software-based MPEG decoders, including Sigma Designs
RealMagic and others. To discover if
there's a MPEG MCI driver in your system you should open
Window's Media Player and try to play a MPEG file from
there. If your system can play MPEG files from Media
Player chances are that you will be able to use
MpegXtra 3. MpegXtra can control MPEG2 and VOB (DVD)
files if your Mpeg decoder supports these formats.

Please read the User Guide carefully for setup and
operation instructions.

		detected when running some International

built in Win 3.1 and Win 3.11 translates some
return messages, and MpegXtra couldn't detect
the presence of a MCI driver correctly.

04/15/96	- Version 1.01
		 Changed MCI checking to acommodate
		MediaMatics drivers

Now checks for MCI driver capability
only once per session. Checking for
file corruption is disabled when the
		pathname is automatically resolved by
the Xtra. Result is a drastic improvement
on loading time for movies with 10 MpegXtra
		castmember or more.

03/15/96	- Version 1.00 released
